Naturally gluten-free brewer Autumn Brewing Co received further accolades for their beers after being awarded Gold & Silver medals at the national 2018 FreeFrom Food Awards ceremony held in London recently.
Based in Seaham, County Durham and brewing with alternative gluten-free grains, malted rice, malted millet and quinoa, the company were awarded Gold for their Dark Roast Stout, ALT BREW NO.03, in the Down the Pub & Bar category. The Judges commented: ‘This is lovely. I don’t normally like stout but this wins me over.’ ‘Wonderful stout colour: dark, bitter, chocolate, great depth of flavour.’ ’Deep smoky aroma - good bitterness at the end.’
Their English Pale Ale, ALT BREW NO.02 was awarded Silver in the same category with the Judges commenting: 'Fantastic smell – rich and beautiful colour. Treacley taste, yet light. Malt comes through – full of flavour.' 'Nice hop notes on aftertaste.'
Commenting on the awards, Peter Briggs, Founder and Director at Autumn Brewing Co said "Winning two awards is fantastic. It’s an incredible achievement and highlights the fact that great beer doesn’t have to be brewed from barley, wheat or rye."
Having received a Silver FreeFrom Food Award for their Bavarian Style Pilsner, ALT BREW NO.01 in 2017, Autumn Brewing Co. now have awards for each of their core range of beers.
